One summer I drove through the Olympic Peninsula past fires on my way to see Laurence Cole. The air was thick with smoke at times, it was sticky hot, and I had no a/c in my car. Plus my heart was breaking that this beautiful place was on fire and I had a sense that this is just the beginning of a part of my life in which I will witness lands I love burning.I was miserable. On my way home, the air was clear and this song came in as a prayer of gratitude for breath and the ability to sing in the car. It holds a vision of human beings finding our way to healthier connection with the land and other beings around us, bringing back balanced and life-sustaining relationship with all of life and the elements.
