Grief comes in waves. Despair can, too. Sometimes I ride those waves more gracefully than others. As I was becoming aware of police brutality and corruption in my own backyard, I clicked on a video of Dr Cornel West, who wrapped me up in the reminder that Love prevails. No matter how atrocious things have been throughout history, Love has been there. Love is.

His message, his delivery, and his heart spoke directly to the part of me that needed to remember. My heart warmed up, cracked open, and let out this vow.
